The ski resort
The French ski resort of Courchevel is made up of four villages - 1850, 1650, 1550 and Le Praz - each with a different character and different types of ski property to buy. 1850 is best known internationally and its luxury hotels, designer shopping and glitzy nightlife attract skiers from around the world. Le Praz, also known as 1350, is the oldest village. 1650 and 1550 were purpose-built for ski convenience and parts of both are undergoing re-development. All four villages are ski in/ski out. It is possible to reach Courchevel 1850 by plane by flying into the high altitude altiport above the resort.
Skiing in Courchevel
Courchevel links into Les Trois Vallées France's largest ski area. The Courchevel valley often has the best snow conditions of the three valleys as it faces north. It offers a variety of well-groomed pistes with runs for every level including a number of pretty tree-lined descents to the valley floor. Mountain restaurants above the resort, such as the Cap Horn and the Bergerie, are among the best in the world. The ski resorts of Méribel, Val Thorens and St Martin de Belleville also link into Les Trois Vallées and are all reachable from Courchevel by lift and ski.
Summer in Courchevel
July and August are the peak months of Courchevel’s summer season when the ski lifts are open for walkers and mountain bikers. Other activities include via ferrata, lake fishing and climbing. Compared to the bustle of the ski season, the resort villages are quiet and calm.
Buying luxury ski property in Courchevel
Courchevel 1850 is the property hotspot of the French Alps appealing to wealthy Parisians and international celebrities. Luxury ski property for sale, espcially chalets are snapped up as soon as they come onto the market. A few well-proportioned luxury apartments within new-build residence developments are also available in 1850. There are plenty of chalet properties in the other Courchevel resorts including La Tania, a pretty chalet resort a few minutes’ drive from Le Praz.
